Gretchen Witt
Demo
Self-Released

New York City via Ohio singer songwriter Gretchen Witt didn't give up her country girl persona when she moved to the big city. But the certain wide-eyed innocence of her songs shouldn't be mistaken for naivety. Her guitar playing recalls Ani Difranco before she went all jazzy. Her piano playing sounds like a more down-to-earth Tori Amos. Too country to be rock, but too direct and honest to be mainstream country, Gretchen occupies the same alt-country space that most of the Lost Highway roster does. Her songs may sound all sweetness and light, but listen closely and you'll find the gravity of well-analyzed life. Pick up this EP at CD Baby while she's still a kept secret.
