Michael Starks's guitar playing on Shadowcasting will put a twinkle in the eye of any power pop fan that hears it. Fans of good, down 'n' dirty rock 'n' roll will also get a kick out his style. Although the album has a strong pop (think Paul Westerburg type pop, not the Top-40 kind) feel throughout most of the songs, it also still has a rock feel - thanks to bluesy guitar solos and aggressive drumming. Writers are supposed to "write what they know", and Michael does just that with his song writing. The result is confident playing and a clear musical vision.
