Red Wanting Blue
Pride: The Cold Lover
Self-Released
Red Wanting Blue seem to want to be huge. Like, filling stadiums huge. The band's sixth independent release, Pride: The Cold Lover, is commercial-radio friendly. If a band like Creed can have hits then there is no reason why RWB can't. They are just as earnest and have hooks just as big as Creed, without the annoyance factor of Scott Stapp. And they make music a hell of a lot better than those angry Christians ever did. I remember seeing these guys when I was in school in Ohio. The band's sound hasn't changed much since then, but the audiences have just gotten bigger. RWB could probably make a good living for themselves releasing their own material with no label support, and as commercial as the band sounds, that smacks of a healthy DIY spirit.
